An unknown assailant attacking victims with a two-by-four wooden plank has prompted the second community alert in two weeks on the West Side.
Police describe the offender as a black male between 5 feet 9 to 11 inches tall, weighing between 150 and 160 pounds, with a dark complexion, a dark baseball cap, and a dark shirt.
He approached the victims in two separate attacks on June 21 and June 24, on the 2100 block of Keeler Avenue and the 2100 block of Kostner Ave, according to a release from police News Affairs. The attacker approached the victims with a two-by-four and struck or threatened to strike the victims before taking money and other property, the release said.
This alert comes after a similar alert last week following four muggings in the same area.
Officers remind residents to be aware of their surroundings and immediately report suspicious activity. They also remind people to take note of unique physical characteristics, such as scars, and request contact information if witnesses of an incident approach.
Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call the Bureau of Detectives at 312-747-8382.
