One tornado touched down Sunday night as storms moved across northern Illinois, the National Weather Service has confirmed.

The tornado ranked an EF-1 with estimated peak wind speeds of 100 mph, forecasters at the weather service office in Romeoville on Monday said.

It touched down near Cabery in Kankakee County at 200 yards wide and traveled for about 2.2 miles. Survey crews on Monday also were surveying a possible tornado touchdown in northern Livingston County.

Strong storms moved across the region Sunday evening bringing lightning, high winds, pea-sized hail and heavy rain.
