A northwest suburban McHenry woman plans to use her $400,000 lottery winnings to pay off her mortgage.
Charlotte Kumm won the $400,000 jackpot when her Lucky Day Lotto ticket matched all five numbers – 01 – 04 – 07 – 13 – 16 – in the evening drawing on April 30, according to a statement from the Illinois Lottery.
“I often dreamed about winning the Lottery, then being mortgage-free, and now my dream has come true,” Kumm said in the statement.
Kumm, originally from Woodstock, has lived in McHenry for 40 years, according to the statement. She said she plans to use the windfall to make home improvements and pay off her mortgage.
Sunnyside Little Store, 4304 N. Johnsburg Road in McHenry, received a bonus of $4,000, of one percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.
