A shooting at a south suburban gas station Thursday left at least two people injured, prompting a heavy police response in the Lansing area.
According to police, the shooting happened just after 9:30 a.m. outside a GoLo gas station at 18595 Torrence Ave.
Police found two men with gunshot wounds to their body in the parking lot of the gas station. Both were taken to area hospitals with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.
Footage from the scene outside the gas station near 185th and South Torrence Avenue showed several police cars centered around a vehicle that appeared to have bullet holes in it. The area was surrounded by crime scene tape and the ground riddled with dozens of evidence markers.
Witnesses reported hearing several shots in the area shortly after 9 a.m.
"I walked past where the car was parked," Rose Winters, a customer at a nearby hair salon, said. "That could have been me."
Anyone with information on what happened is being asked to call the Lansing Police Department at (708) 895-7150.
