The famous Richardson Adventure Farm corn maze is set to open Sept. 1 in celebration of Illinois’ Bicentennial.
The 28-acre maze with trails that span 10 miles long, is Richardson Farm’s 18th maze.
“Over the years, maze themes have honored milestones for the Chicago Cubs, Star Trek, Chicago Blackhawks, the Star Spangled Banner and even the Beatles,” according to a statement released.
The rectangular cornfield located at 909 English Prairie Rd., is “sculpted with an intricate network of paths portraying Illinois symbols,” the statement reads, including the state capitol and Abraham Lincoln filling in the centre, along with a barn, silo, tractor, row crops, apple trees and pumpkins.
Although the maze differs from year to year, it has become an annual destination for families to enjoy the fun, along with 30 other activities offered—including wagon rides, pig races, a vintage carousel and a "park train" that runs on real tracks.
Richardson Adventure Farm will open Sept. 1 through Nov. 4, Thursdays through Sundays with a $17-$19 admission fee per person for ages 13 and up, $14-$16 for ages 3-12 and free for ages 2 and under.
All the activities offered are included in the admission fee with the exception of the zip line and zorb rides, which cost extra.
