Chicago's Fashion Focus begins next week, but fashionistas can get their dose of runway tonight at the Apparel Industry Board Inc.'s show, Chicago is... Red Hot!!! The ninth annual show at Northerly Island features dozens of well-established and emerging designers, all local.
This huge fashion event, after years of collaborating with Fashion Focus, has decided to go solo this year. Why? Money, of course. (Unfortunately, no drama.) "We always were independent, but we participated with the city because we believe in their mission," Marsha Brenner, executive director of AIBA, explained to CS magazine. "With the city [this year] there were unforeseen costs that made it a little more than we could afford."
Don't think that all the models will be wearing crazy couture that no one would ever actually wear. The show will feature wedding gowns, accessories, children's wear, and even plus-sizes. Standing-room-only tickets for the shindig cost $75 and will grant you access to the after-party. For the VIP treatment, tickets are $500 each and offer a pre-show reception, great food and desserts, ideal seating, admission to the after-party, and optional bragging rights.
