The NFL Draft in Chicago is officially underway, as the Los Angeles Rams have selected quarterback Jared Goff out of the University of California.
The Rams, who acquired the pick in a blockbuster trade with the Tennessee Titans earlier this month, will start life anew in Los Angeles with the highly touted Goff under center. Goff threw 43 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions for the Golden Bears during his final season at the school, completing 64.5 percent of his passes and throwing for 4719 yards.
With Goff entering the fold, there are now questions surrounding what the team intends to do for a back-up. It seems highly unlikely that the roster will include Nick Foles after the Goff selection, but head coach Jeff Fisher hasn’t indicated what the plan is moving forward for the player.
As for the decision to pick Goff, the Rams opted to not publicize their selection before the draft. The consensus was that the team was going to pick between Goff and North Dakota quarterback Carson Wentz.
