Police are looking for a man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his vehicle Saturday afternoon in north suburban Evanston.
About 1:40 p.m., the girl was walking in the 200 block of Main Street when a man in a white SUV pulled up and asked her where a coffee shop was, according to Evanston police.
He then got out of the SUV, opened the passenger door and asked her to get inside and show him how to get there, police said.
The girl refused and backed away before the man got back in the SUV and drove away, police said. He was last seen eastbound on Main Street.
He is described as a short, 20- to 30-year-old Hispanic man with a goatee, police said. He also identified himself as Jose and was possibly driving a Chevy Traverse.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Evanston police at (847) 866-5000.
