The Chicago Blackhawks are starting to move in the right direction as the calendar flips to December, and a big contributor to their November success was honored on Tuesday as Patrick Kane was named the NHL’s First Star of the month.

Kane, who has registered a point in 19 consecutive games and set a new record for longest point streak by an American-born player, was especially potent in November, racking up eight goals and 15 assists for the Blackhawks. He currently leads the NHL in scoring, and his success with Artem Anisimov and Artemi Panarin has helped keep the Blackhawks’ offense afloat.

Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby was named the league’s second star for November, and Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Duchene secured third star honors.

Next up for Kane is the team record for longest point streak, as he trails team legend Bobby Hull by just two games in that category.

The Blackhawks will take the ice again on Tuesday night when they take on the Minnesota Wild at the United Center.
