Parents, Grandparents Face Neglect Charges in W. Indiana

The parents and grandparents of four western Indiana children face neglect charges after the kids ages 2-8 were found living in filth, locked in rooms with covered windows and having difficulty speaking.

The Vermillion County Prosecutor's Office charged each of the four with four counts of neglect Friday. Each was lodged in the county jail.

The Daily Clintonian reports the children — boys ages 8, 5 and 2 and a 4-year-old girl — were removed from the home Oct. 19 after the Indiana Department of Child Services received an anonymous tip. The children were treated at hospitals in Clinton and Indianapolis and released to foster parents Oct. 23.

Until then, the children had not left the home in more than a year.

The home has since been condemned.
