Suburban High School Dismisses Early Due to Bomb Threat

Police say that several notes were left in the school threatening to blow up the facility

Students at a suburban high school are being dismissed early from classes due to a reported bomb threat, police officials said.

In an email to parents, Oak Forest High School announced that it would dismiss students at 1:15 p.m. because of "an ongoing situation."

In a press release, the Oak Forest Police Department revealed that police were called to the school around noon to investigate a reported bomb threat.

Police learned that several notes were left throughout the school indicating that the facility would be "blown up," and that seven different bombs would go off at different times during the day.

With the aid of bomb-sniffing dogs, police scoured the school and found no evidence of explosives. School will resume on Jan. 22, as Friday and Monday were both scheduled days off for students.

All students are safe, according to the school's email, and buses will arrive to pick up students. Student drivers and walkers will also be dismissed, and are asked to leave the premises. Students needing to be picked up by parents will report to the cafeteria.

Parents are asked to contact students when they arrive at the school.
