Motorcyclists Ride to Fox Lake With Roses to Honor Fallen Officer Lt. Gliniewicz

Members of the motorcycle community came together for a group ride from Highland, Indiana, to Fox Lake Saturday in honor of slain officer Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, who was killed last week in the line of duty.

The motorcyclists carried roses with them as they rode through several towns, eventually stopping at the Fox Lake Police Station, where they left the flowers.

The ride was organized by the Unforgotten Souls Motorcycle Club.

"It's a way to pay respects to the officer and to family and to bring them comfort knowing that there's a lot of people still behind them,"  said Steve Stelk, who participated in the ride.

The ride ended at Grant High School, where organizers presented a check to Melodie Gliniewicz, the wife of the fallen lieutenant, as she fought back tears. More than $1,100 was raised for the Gliniewicz family during the ride.

"Every time I see one of you guys, it reminds me of how many people he touched in this world," Melodie Gliniewicz said. "He'd be so proud."
