Two women who were violently robbed in Chicago’s Lawndale neighborhood last week may have been targeted by the same man, police said.
The first incident took place around 3:30 a.m. on June 29 in the 2800 block of West Flournoy Street, according to a community alert. Police said a woman was walking when the man came behind her and grabbed her purse. The man also asked for the woman’s jewelry and hit her with a closed fist before stealing her necklace and earrings.
A similar incident was reported around 5:45 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of South California Avenue. Police said a woman was waiting at a bus stop when a man grabbed her purse and pushed her to the ground.
The man is described as being 25 to 30 years old, between 5 feet, 6 inches tall and 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing 140 to 180 pounds.
Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to call Area North Detectives at (312) 744-8263.
