Man Claims Prostitutes Beat, Robbed Him: Police

A 55-year-old north suburban man told police he hired two prostitutes, only to have one of them steal his money while the other battered him, the News-Sun is reporting.

James Latona of Beach Park now faces solicitation charges, while the two women face a number of charges, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office.

The investigation began Wednesday after a woman called police claiming she was battered and sexually assaulted, police said. Sheriff’s deputies responded about 9:45 a.m. to the area of Green Bay and Kenosha roads in Beach Park.

But the resident of the home told a different story. He said he had hired two prostitutes, only to have one steal money from him while the other struck him in the head, according to police.

The investigation led to the Red Carpet Inn at Routes 137 and 41 in North Chicago, where the two women were taken into custody with the help of North Chicago police officers.

Susan Breneisen, 43, of Gages Lake; and Jessica Barnes, 29, of Waukegan, were arrested.

Latona was charged with solicitation of a prostitute and released after posting $150 bail.

Breneisen, 43, was charged with prostitution, possession of a controlled substance and theft and was ordered held on a $50,000 bond. Barnes, 29, was charged with prostitution, theft, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bond was set at $50,000.
