A judge Sunday denied bond for a man who held a woman against her will for more than two months on the Northwest Side and regularly abused her.
Judge Adam Bourgeois denied bond for Sir Wilfred Camaligan, a measure he said he normally reserved for alleged murderers.
“This is beyond the pale,” the judge said during a hearing Sunday.
The alleged kidnapping came to light after the woman was able to free herself and ask a good Samaritan’s help in escaping from the man who had been holding her at his home, police said.
Charges against the Camaligan, 22, of 5355 W. Lawrence Ave., were issued Saturday morning.
According to police, the 20-year-old victim said she had been held against her will, intimidated and physically abused from July 15 until Sept. 23, whe she escaped.
During her imprisonment in his Jefferson Park home, Camaligan beat the woman and made her cut herself, police told the Tribune.

Police say Camaligan allowed the 20-year-old woman to briefly leave the home, and she sent a text message to her mother using a stranger's cell phone. The victim's mother called 911.
The woman suffered a number of injuries during the two-month ordeal, including fractures and possible hearing loss, according to the Tribune.
Police are still investigating.
