Chicago Company Files Suit Over New Kim Kardashian West Fragrance

The Vibes perfume “comes in a bottle that is a close facsimile of the Registered Vibes Logo,” the suit claims

A Chicago company has filed a federal lawsuit in Illinois alleging Kim Kardashian West’s new fragrance infringes on its trademarked logo.

The lawsuit, filed last week, claims the Chicago marketing company’s logo, which features a text message box with the word “Vibes” inside, has been used by the company since January 2011. Vibes Media said it trademarked the logo in April 2012 “in an effort to promote its brand recognition and protect its valuable goodwill.”

Kardashian West launched her new fragrance “Vibes” as part of the “KKW Kimoji” line, according to the suit. The line includes the Vibes perfume and two other fragrances -Peach and Cherry.

The Vibes perfume “comes in a bottle that is a close facsimile of the Registered Vibes Logo,” the suit claims. It seeks damages “in an amount to be proven at trial.”

Representatives for Kardashian West could not immediately be reached for comment.

KKW Fragrance posted on Instagram that “Vibes” fragrance is “lively & irresistible with notes of watermelon, peony, amber and more.” It is listed on the company’s website for $45.
