A 100-year prison sentence has been handed to a man convicted of shooting two Chicago police officers when they interrupted him during a 2011 drug transaction.
Alvis Holley was convicted in September of two counts of attempted murder of a police officer and was sentenced Monday by Cook County Circuit Judge Nicholas Ford.
Prosecutors say the 28-year-old was observed participating in a narcotics deal in an alley. Holley could not tell the officers what he was doing or where he lived. When told to put his hands on the hood of the police car, he instead fought with the officers, shooting them with a .22-caliber handgun.
Holley fled the scene, but left a hat behind containing DNA evidence. The two officers, one of which is disabled, identified Holley as the shooter.
