The Chicago Bulls welcomed back Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson to the United Center on Friday night, and they debuted an emotional video to pay tribute to their former stars.
Butler, who was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves at the 2017 NBA Draft, and Taj Gibson, who was traded to Oklahoma City before signing with the Timberwolves over the offseason, both were at the United Center with their new team on Friday night.
Both players were honored during the game with a tribute video, played on the video board at the stadium:
Gibson and Butler both stood and acknowledged the crowd after the video played, and the players received a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.
Noticeably absent from the tribute video was former head coach Tom Thibodeau, who is now in charge of the Timberwolves. Thibodeau did not receive a tribute video from the team last season, and was not honored during the game Friday.
