At Least 1 Horse Dead After Hampshire Stable Fire

Tower Hill Stables has confirmed the death of at least one horse

At least one horse is dead after a large fire was reported at a boarding facility Friday night in northwest suburban Kane County.

First responders were called to the scene at approximately 9:12 p.m. Friday at Tower Hill Stables, which is located at 12N254 Tower Rd. in suburban Hampshire.

Helicopter video from the scene showed flames pouring out of stables while crews attempted to extinguish the fire.

One of the facility's outbuildings caught fire, but the main barn was not affected, according to Tower Hill officials.

While the cause of the fire is unclear, Tower Hill Stables confirmed in a Facebook post that one horse was killed in the blaze.

"It is with sadness that I inform you we did lose one horse tonight," Tower Hill Stables said in a statement. "The owner has been contacted & our deepest sympathy goes out to them. We will post again as more information becomes available."
