Getaway Car Out of Gas

Suspects caught when car dies during police chase

A word of advice: You may want to fill up your car's gas tank before leading police on a long chase.

Two men involved in a shooting in southwest suburban Burbank were taken into custody when their vehicle ran out of gas during a pursuit.

According to Burbank police Capt. Tim Klein, police were notified of a shooting outside The Club (4829 W 77th St) at about 1:30 a.m. The victim was a man in his 20s and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition.

Police in Burbank went on the hunt for the alleged shooter's vehicle. The car was spotted near 115th Street and Cicero Avenue, but when cops attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver sped away.

The chase was on.

That is, until the car ran out of gas. About 12 miles away, near 151st Street and Will Cook Road in Orland Park, the car sputtered and came to a stop.

Perhaps they need to look into a car with better mileage.

Two men were taken into custody. However, the victim has refused to cooperate with police, preferring to confront his alleged attacker "on the street," said Klein.

Matt Bartosik, a "between blogs" blogger, step on the gas.
