An iconic Chicago restaurant could soon be returning, but this time in a new location.
Ed Debevic's has been closed for nearly two years, but according to a new report that could all change next year as the restaurant plans a comeback in Streeterville.
Eater reports a building permit was issued for the famed eatery for $1 million in renovations at 550 N. St. Clair.
The restaurant famous for its snarky staff had spent years in its River North home before closing up shop in 2015 to make room for a new high-rise building. It had occupied the spot on the corner of Wells and Erie Streets since 1984.
At the time of its closing, Ed Debevic's said it was searching for a new location to serve their 1950s-style burgers, fries and shakes with a side of trademark sassy comments.
