The Chicago Blackhawks have been waiting for some good news on the injury front, and they finally got some on Friday as it was revealed that defenseman Duncan Keith will return to the lineup on Saturday night.
Keith, who has been out of the lineup after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus he suffered during the 2015 playoffs, was sorely missed by a Hawks team that has regularly been playing a slew of rookies in his place.
During Keith's absence, the Blackhawks have struggled to limit scoring opportunities, and their record is reflective of that. They currently sit outside of the Western Conference playoffs, and although there is plenty of season left to play, it won't be easy in a loaded Central Division.
The team also activated defenseman Michal Rozsival from long-term injured reserve Friday.
Rozsival, who broke his ankle during the team’s second round series against the Minnesota Wild in the 2015 playoffs, signed with the team during training camp and has been slowly working his way back from the injury as the organization looks for more veteran depth on the blue line.
Defenseman Viktor Svedberg was reassigned to the Rockford IceHogs.
