A slew of new buses are coming to the streets of Chicago.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel and the Chicago Transit Authority are expected to announce Monday plans to add 125 buses.
The move is part of an initiative Emanuel launched in 2012 to modernize the CTA's fleet.
The new buses are being touted for bringing the CTA its most up-to-date fleet in years.
Nearly 85 percent of the buses will be brand new or in new condition, according to the mayor's office. They are expected to provide "a more comfortable and reliable ride for CTA customers."
The transit agenyc said CTA customers took more than 275 million bus rides last year.
