A northwest suburban man has been charged with drug-induced homicide nearly four months after a woman died of a heroin overdose in McHenry County.

Herman B. Trigg of Crystal Lake was arrested Friday and charged with drug-induced homicide, according to the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

On April 4, a 29-year-old woman was found dead in a home in the 3100 block of West Lincoln Road in McHenry, a statement from the sheriff’s office said.

Detectives learned that the woman had ingested heroin before her death, and that Trigg had supplied the drugs, police said.

He was arrested two days later during a sting operation near the dead woman’s home and found with 1.2 grams of heroin and .6 grams of cannabis, police said. He was charged then with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, and intent to deliver cannabis.

Trigg, of the 300 block of Ambassador Lane in Crystal Lake, was ordered held on a $2.5 million bond following the new charge being filed, according to police. He is next scheduled to appear in court Wednesday in Woodstock.
