White Sox OF Eloy Jimenez Suffers Ankle Injury

Chicago White Sox outfielder Eloy Jimenez was forced to leave Friday’s game against the Detroit Tigers with an ankle injury after an ugly collision with the outfield wall.

Jimenez, who had just returned to the White Sox following a stint on the bereavement list, jumped for a fly ball at the wall during the third inning of the game, and appeared to injure his ankle after it planted into the padding.

Jimenez was helped off of the field with the injury, and fortunately for him, he may have escaped serious injury, as the team said that X-rays were negative. He was diagnosed with a right ankle sprain, and will be re-evaluated on Saturday, according to the team.

Adam Engel replaced Jimenez in the lineup.
