The owners of one of the Chicago area’s most noted pizzerias is reportedly planning a new Chicago location.
Eater Chicago reports Jerry Petrow of Burt’s Place has purchased a building at 4202 W. Irving Park Rd., where he said he plans to open another pizzeria.
Petrow and partner John Munao reopened Burt’s Place in Morton Grove in 2017 following the death of Burt Katz, the restaurant’s founder. Katz, who was also behind Chicago pizza parlo Pequod’s on the city’s North Side, closed the restaurant in 2015 and died a year later.
Before then, Burt’s Place’s pizza pies had reached cult status and drew attention from the likes of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain, who featured Burt’s Place on one of his television show “No Reservations.”
The Old Irving Park Association posted a message to Facebook teasing the news that Burt’s Place was coming to the neighborhood and replacing the former Thirteen Pins Tapas & Bar location.
Eater reported there was no timetable for a potential opening, with Petrow saying the project was still in very early stages.
