Police: Aurora Man Nabbed Stealing Packages

A man was caught in the act of stealing packages from porches on Monday in west suburban Aurora, police said.

Moses V. Williamson, 28, of the 1100 block of South Fourth Street in Aurora was charged with two felony counts of theft, according to Aurora police. His bond was set at $15,000.

Williamson was taken into custody about noon when officers saw him take packages from porches in the 100 block of North Root Street and the first block of South Fourth Street, police said.

Williamson is suspected in several similar incidents, police said. He became a suspect when a witness to a different theft took a photo of a vehicle driven by Williamson that included the license plate. Williamson was driving the same vehicle when he was arrested and police are continuing to investigate other incidents he might be connected to.

Police said such crimes spike during the holiday season and recommended residents schedule their deliveries for times they will be home.
