Anger Room Offers Stress Relief for Chicagoans

The Anger Room gives guests a safe space to unleash their anger by smashing and destroying objects like glass or a TV

Some Chicagoans frazzled by work or the holidays should stop by The Anger Room.

While there, guests have a safe space to unleash their anger by smashing and destroying objects like glass or a TV. The room can also be set up to look like an office or kitchen, according to the Anger Room’s website.

CROMEgallery, located at 3118 S. Morgan St. in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, partnered with the Anger Room to bring the one-of-a-kind therapeutic experience for Chicagoans who need to release their frustrations inside a gallery atmosphere, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Donna Alexander, the creator of the Anger Room, first thought of the idea as a teenager living in Chicago, according to Bloomberg Business. She told the website that she witnessed domestic violence and fights at school as a teen. Alexander wanted to create a space where anyone can lash out without serious consequences.

Alexander first launched the Anger Room in 2008 inside the garage of her home in Dallas, Texas, according to the event’s Facebook page. She officially opened the rage space in 2011.

Tickets for Friday’s event in Chicago are sold out. Unfortunately, it isn't clear when the Anger Room’s next Chicago visit will be.
