Nine pedestrians were injured Tuesday after a car jumped a curb in Gary.
Police say the 62-year-old driver was headed north on Lake Street shortly after 4 p.m., turned right on Miller Avenue and lost control of the vehicle.
The car struck a group of people, injuring seven children include a 3- and 21-month-old child, a nearly 3-year-old child, two 7-year-old children, and a 9- and 11-year-old child. A 27- and 45-year-old adult were also injured.
All of the victims were transported to local hospitals but the extent of their injuries was unknown.
A building also sustained damage in the accident.
Police are still investigating the incident.
