Aurora Man To Serve Time for 17 Traffic Violations

Escaped murder charges

An Aurora man charged with murder was sentenced Thursday to six years in state prison -- for traffic violations.

Michael L. Diaz, 34, faces time for driving with a revoked license on 17 occasions,  the Chicago Tribune reports.

Diaz was charged in two gang-related killings back in 2007, but prosecutors were unable to convict him. He was acquitted in one. The charges were dismissed in the other.

The judge's sentence Thursday did not take those allegations into account, according to the Tribune.

Police last charged Diaz with a traffic violation in September 2009.
