At least 36 people have been shot, four of them killed, and one person was stabbed in Chicago violence since Friday, officials said.
The most recent weekend homicide took place around 2:40 a.m. Sunday when a 32-year-old man was fatally shot in the chest.
The man and a woman were standing behind a residence in the 6000 block of South Indiana Avenue when they heard shots and felt pain.
The 32-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County where he was later pronounced dead, police said. A 27-year-old woman was shot in the lower right leg and was listed in stable condition at Stroger Hospital.
Just after 1 a.m. Sunday, a 20-year-old man was found fatally shot in the 3000 block of West 53rd Place following an altercation outside his home.
According to authorities, the man was involved in an altercation at the residence. Shortly after, he was found fatally shot. No one was in custody for the shooting as of Sunday morning.

The most recent weekend shooting took place just after 4 a.m. Sunday when a 24-year-old man was shot during an altercation in the Cragin neighborhood, police said.
The man was involved in an altercation with his girlfriend in the 5400 block of West Diversey Avenue when someone intervened and shot him in the hand and torso, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.
He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition.
Around the same time, police responded to a shooting report on Interstate 57 near Halsted.

Illinois State police confirmed there was a shooting on Southbound I-57 and said one person was shot and taken to an area hospital.
Details surrounding the shooting were not immediately known and the condition of the victim was not available.
At 2:30 a.m., a 30-year-old man was shot in the 1500 block of West 18 Place in the city’s Pilsen neighborhood.
Details surrounding the shooting weren’t immediately available but the man was taken to University of Illinois Chicago Hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.
Also Sunday, a woman was critically wounded in a shooting around 12:30 a.m. in the 900 block of North Kedzie Avenue.
The woman suffered gunshot wounds to the head, chest and back and was taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital.
Police said the woman was traveling northbound on Kedzie Avenue when a dark-colored SUV pulled up alongside her and started shooting at the vehicle.
A male passenger in the vehicle was not injured and police believe the shooting may have been gang-related.
Family members said the 25-year-old victim, who they identified as Jasmine Martinez, had no gang ties and is the mother of two children.
"You cannot even come out of your house without worrying if you are going to be alive," said Angie Diaz, the victim's aunt.
Also around 12:30 a.m., an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg in the Lawndale neighborhood.
Police said the teen was standing with a group when he heard shots and ran. It was until after he fled that he realized he was shot.
The teen was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.
Fifteen minutes earlier, a 45-year-old man was stabbed during an argument on a lakefront path in the 3600 block of North Recreation Drive.
The man was sitting on a bench with a 48-year-old man when the two were approached by two male offenders and the two groups began arguing. The argument escalated and the 45-year-old man was stabbed in the lower back, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.
The man was last listed in good condition at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and no one was in custody as of Sunday evening.
Twenty-nine others have been shot in Chicago, two of them fatally, since Friday afternoon.
Doctors said the surge in violence is expected during the warmer days in Chicago.
"It was warm," said Dr. Faran Bokhari at Stroger Hospital, "So we expect that at Stroger and the other trauma centers in the area."
The city recorded the first 80-degree day of the year on Saturday.
"While Chicago continues to see reductions in crime and violence, there's obviously much more work to be done and we continue to be challenged by lax state and federal gun laws," Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said in a statement. "From our officers to our police strategies to the city's strengthened investments in youth violence prevention to our close partnership with residents and community leaders, no one will rest until everyone in Chicago enjoys the same sense of safety."
