Afghanistan Arrests Gov't Turncoat Over Leaks

The Afghan Intelligence Service has arrested three suspects for allegedly aiding insurgency—among them a top Defense Ministry official it said leaked secrets to the Taliban. The agency said Saturday that the other two arrested were a Taliban official who led a propaganda campaign and a person suspected of plotting the April 1 attack on a United National headquarters. The Taliban has increasingly turned to infiltration of Afghan forces and the Americans training them as a major means of retaining its grip on the troubled nation. According to an Afghan Intelligence Service spokesman, the army turncoat arrested had headed three checkpoints in Kabul and was offered $2,300 to help plot suicide attacks.
