1 Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting Reported in Chatham

One person was injured during an officer-involved shooting reported in the Chatham neighborhood Wednesday evening, according to police.

The incident occurred in the 7900 block of S. Ingleside Ave., stated Chicago Police Spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi in a tweet.

Guglielmi stated that officers had confronted a group of individuals, when they observed an armed subject. When they approached the person, the offender ran into a building where a confrontation quickly ensued with police.

The individual struck by police was then transported to the hospital at the University of Chicago.

No other details were immediately known.
