Have you made your plans for Yoga Day USA yet? The national holiday is this Saturday, Jan. 24, so you better jump to it. Here's a suggestion: Glenview's Silken Tent, an eco-friendly spa/retreat, is celebrating the occasion with $5 yoga classes for all. (They're usually priced at $18 per session.)
Founded by the Yoga Alliance, Yoga Day USA serves to introduce or reaffirm the practice of yoga for everyone from experienced yogis to curious novices. Inspired by the idea of "karma yoga," or giving back to others, yoga teachers and schools across the country are offering free (or nearly free) classes throughout the day.
At Silken Tent, two classes are regularly held on Saturday -- "Niyama Hot," practiced in a room heated to more than 90 degrees, from 9:30-11AM, and "Intro to Yoga" from 1-2:15PM. And, yes, both are just five bucks, so start stretching -- yourself and your wallet.
