Chicago Avenue between North LaSalle and North Wells streets was closed to traffic early Tuesday after a pedestrian was struck by a car.
Chicago Transit Authority Route 66 buses were also avoiding the area while police investigated.
Authorities said a woman in her 20s driving a Honda Civic struck a man who was crossing the street. The man, also in his 20s, was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was listed in serious condition.
