Chicago's porkiest food festival is going whole hog next year.
Baconfest officials are adding an additional day to the festivities in 2014.
The annual ode to all thinks bacon will be held April 25-26 at the UIC forum. A Friday night dinner session is now available in addition to the traditional Saturday lunch and dinner shifts.
Baconfest has steadily increased in popularity since debuting five years ago. Tickets to this year's event sold out in 41 minutes.
The festival features dozens of restaurants, liquor companies and breweries presenting their unique takes on the "other white meat."
Organizers say the 2014 event will also include a full week of preview events, including a Baconfest Cocktail Kickoff Party featuring master bacon mixologists, a Bacon Cocktail Tour, a Baconfest Past Masters Kickoff Dinner and neighborhood bacon crawls.
Baconfest has raised more than $100,000 for the Chicago Food Depository since 2009.
