A Posh St. Pat's

The Trump Hotel rolls out the green carpet for an upscale St. Pat's party

St. Patrick's Day has gotten a bit of a bad rap when it comes to upscale events. Green beer in plastic cups, soggy corned beef sandwiches and standing out in the freezing cold to see a parade and a green river -- those things certainly have their charms, but when you're an A-lister, you might need a bit more luxe and a lot less lush.

The Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago understands. In these sophisticated surroundings, St. Patrick's Day means indulgent spa treatments, innovative sushi, gourmet cocktails and an enticing hotel package. Call it the luxe of the Irish.

Ideally situated along the freshly dyed Chicago River, guests staying at the hotel will have bird's-eye views of that greener-than-usual body of water. The "St. Patrick's Day Weekend Family Fun Package," which runs from Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 15, offers a customized Trump Kids amenity package upon arrival, complete with Chicago's own Green River Sodas. Guests heading out to the nearby St. Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday, March 14 can take a fully equipped to-go bag with them, stocked with a disposable camera and shamrock cookies. An Irish breakfast will be served in-room the next morning to complete your plush St. Pat's experience. Rates start at $575.

The Trump Hotel's chic sushi and cocktail lounge, Rebar, overlooks the Chicago River from the property's mezzanine level, providing the perfect perch to soak in the green hue. Order the "Eire Platter," available from Friday, March 13 through Tuesday, March 17. The Celtic-leaning sushi combo ($36) features the Black Cobb roll, with tempura-battered black cob rolled with asparagus, wasabi and edamame purees and poblano pepper rice topped with orange tobiko; and a salmon-and-tuna roll, with asparagus, avocado, wasabi mayo and chive rice topped with green tobiko. Rebar will also toast St. Patrick with the "Luckitini," a green tomato margarita garnished with a four-leaf clover ($15), and the "Irish Punch," a blend of Irish whiskey, brandy, apple juice and a splash of ginger ale ($12).

And if the luck o' the Irish means a spa treatment to you, The Spa at Trump is offering a month-long promotion, called "Green With Envy," featuring treatments using emerald-infused gemstone oils. Luxuriate in an "Emerald Oasis Body Treatment," which combines a gold clay body mask and a foot and scalp massage ($185), or an Emerald manicure and pedicure ($125). In other "green" news, The Spa at Trump will also present a wellness seminar on spa nutrition. Personal trainer and nutrition expert Luis Bracamonte will discuss healthy organic living. The seminar will take place on Friday, March 13 from 6-7:30PM and costs $50 to attend.
