Don't be surprised if you see some very non-wintery sights Friday in Chicago.

In line with the season's unseasonable weather, the area could see a high of 59 degrees to end the week, just short of a record for this time of year. Not bad considering today's average high is 31 degrees. The average low is 17.

NBC Chicago meteorologist Andy Avalos says you'll still need an umbrella throughout the day, though. Conditions are expected to be overcast and damp with a few spotty showers and drizzle.

A fog advisory was issued by the National Weather Service. Areas of dense fog across northeastern Illinois could reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a mile.

Mild conditions continue Saturday before plunging later in the weekend and into next week. Highs ranging from 50 to 55 start the weekend, but those temperatures slowly fall into the upper 30s late Saturday as a light mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow moves in.

Winter returns Sunday with light snow ending early and winds picking up as highs climb to the upper 20s.

Seasonal temps remain in the place for the rest of the week.
