Zoraida Sambolin is the Weekday Edition co-anchor of NBC5 News Today and special assignment reporter and fill-in news anchor for Telemundo Chicago.

Sambolin joined NBC5 News in the summer of 2002 and began reporting for Telemundo the following year. As the first Chicago on-air broadcaster to work at both English and Spanish language stations simultaneously, she has broken new ground for Latinos in the No. 3 market in the country. Sambolin launched "Nuestra Familia" on WSNS Telemundo. In the weekly series, Sambolin tackles a variety of topics on health and family life and provides resources and information to help Latino families in the Chicago area.

Sambolin also serves as host of "Un Buen Doctor," a weekly Spanish language medical series airing on cable stations worldwide. The half hour shows include in-depth interviews with doctors and medical experts on a variety of issues affecting Latinos. She also shares real-life stories of Latinos living with and successfully managing life-threatening diseases like diabetes and high cholesterol.

In September of 2008, Sambolin will host the first-ever Hispanic College Quiz, airing on NBC stations across the country during Hispanic Heritage Month. The four half-hour shows test the knowledge and skill of Hispanic students from eight colleges and universities around the nation.

Sambolin is committed to helping Autism Speaks raise awareness about the growing epidemic of Autism across the country and has volunteered her time and talents to the cause. Recently she hosted a Spanish-language DVD that will be distributed to pre-school teachers nationwide as a tool to identify early signs of autism. She also volunteers her time for a number of Chicago-area organizations like the Anti-Defamation League, where she recently moderated a panel on the crisis in Darfur; and the Puerto Rican Alliance, where she serves on an Advisory Board.

Prior to joining NBC5, Sambolin was the creator and Emmy award-winning host of "Small Talk for Parents" on WYCC-TV and "Nuestros Ninos" on WSNS-TV from 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, she was the director of broadcasting for the Chicago City Colleges.

A Chicago native, Sambolin attended Loyola University. She is married with two children and lives in Chicago.
