How a Chicago Dog Became Famous on BuzzFeed

Couple says they found tenant within 24 hours thanks to photobombing pooch

A Chicago couple credits their photogenic dog with helping find a new tenant for their Lakeview apartment.

It wasn't the in-unit washer and dryer. Nor was it the wood-burning fireplace, the tall ceilings, the French doors or the decent price in a popular neighborhood.

No. It was Otis.

Clearly not camera shy, but maybe a bit coy, the Great Dane/German Shepherd mix is seen photobombing each of the six photos accompanying the pet-friendly Craigslist ad, posted Sunday.

That shot of the dining room? There he is in the corner. From the kitchen, he's seen peeking around the cabinet. And in a bedroom, barely his eyes and the top of his head are visible.

The viral content-watching website BuzzFeed took note of the ad on Tuesday, and that post gathered likes, tweets, shares and comments professing love of Otis.

"Otis is an amazing dog," owners John and Sara Kanive said in an email. "He is full of energy and loves playing fetch when he's not bombing photos or napping."

The couple says the sunny, two bedroom apartment rented out in fewer than 24 hours after the ad went up.

"Thanks to Otis," they wrote.
