“Inglourious Basterds” Tops SAG Awards

The Tarantino flick won for best cast in a motion picture

The 16th annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards passed with few surprises -- and when all was said and done, the winner's list looked nearly identical to last week's Golden Globes.

The sole exception? "Inglourious Basterds," which, came out on top, taking home the the award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, SAG's equivalent to Best Picture.

Eli Roth thanked Quentin Tarantino for "bringing out the best" in a cast that also saw Christoph Waltz win Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film.

"Basterds" lost out last week to James Cameron's sci-fi epic "Avatar."

Taking the top acting honors were Jeff Bridges for "Crazy Heart" and Sandra Bullock for "The Blind Side."

While the Golden Globes left actresses Bullock and Meryl Streep in a tie, neither shared an award or a kiss with the other on Saturday. "The Blind Side" actress was the sole winner of the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role.

A win by Tina Fey for Best Actress in a Comedy Series was the closest thing to an upset all night  -- The "30 Rock" actress beat out last week's Golden Globe winner Toni Collette, who plays a woman with multiple personalities on "United States of Tara."

"We are very happy with everything and happy to be there," Fey joked, just one night after Tonight Show host Conan O'Brien left "30 Rock's" home network, NBC.

In every other category the winners list matched the Globes' rundown: "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin won for Best Actor in a Comedy Series, "Glee" for Best Comedy Series, "Dexter's" Michael C. Hall for Best Actor in a Drama, "The Good Wife's" Julianna Margulies for Best Actress in a Drama, and the cast of "Mad Men" for Best Drama. The Best Miniseries winners were also the same, with Kevin Bacon winning for his role in "Taking Chance" and Drew Barrymore for "Grey Gardens."

Perhaps the most deserving winner was Betty White, who took home the Lifetime Achievement Award for the multiple-decade career in film and television.

While presenting the award, Sandra Bullock poked fun at the 88-year-old actress: "I know that a lot of people really find Betty White inspiring," continuing, "Me, I find Betty White annoying."

"The Golden Girls" alum' made sure she shot back while accepting the award, "Isn't it heartening to see how far a girl as plain as she is can go?"
