Senator-elect Mark Kirk talks about his conciliatory beer offering with former opponent Alexi Giannoulias.

"Alexi and I, during this campaign, we discussed having a beer when this is all over," Kirk said. "And so I will give this invitation: Alexi, if you still want that beer, I will see you tomorrow night at Lower Wacker Drive's Billy Goat Tavern. And the first round is on me."

Prior to the invite, Kirk said he received a concession call from Giannoulias, mentioning he was very kind and gracious, shouting down dissent from the crowd.

Rep. Mark Kirk addresses supporters after winning President Barack Obama's former U.S. Senate seat.

"For him, I especially admire his mother, who did a good job in many areas," Kirk said.

On a minor note, the address Kirk gave for the beer summit was incorrect. The Billy Goat Tavern is located on Lower Michigan, not Lower Wacker.
