Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel turned 52 Tuesday.
He spent the morning with his school's chief, Jean Claude Brizard, making an announcment that a number of underperforming Chicago public schools would be overhauled.
Clearly Emanuel would like to beat back the Chicago Teachers Union and get longer school days for his birthday present.
This afternoon Emanuel plans to have lunch with wife, First Lady Amy Rule. Later, he said he will have dinner with his family.
"My birthday wish," he said. "When I wake up I get a crime report ...I'd like to wake up one day and see that no one was shot or killed for one day."
Neither the schools reform nor the spotless crime report is likely in the cards for Emanuel.
