If you think you're ready to hire employees for your start-up, think about this: a daylong conference for entrepreneurs looking to hire.
The workshop teaches basic elements of hiring strategy and employment law, and how to balance those on a tight budget. As a first-time employer, it’s a good way to learn the specific steps for effective hiring. If that isn’t enough incentive, it’s free, free parking is available and lunch will be provided.
The day-long clinic will include panels that discuss whether small business owners are ready to hire, a panel of small business owners; pros and cons of employees vs. independent contractors; legal and business breakout sessions and a discussion of health care options for small businesses.
In the panel discussion, attendees will hear from current and former IJ Clinic clients about their experiences hiring, and the resulting influence on them, their businesses, and their communities. The speakers include local business owners Shawn Smith of Shawnimals, Megan Marshall of Lango of the South Side, and Tiffany Williams of Just Us Lawn Care.
The workshop is slated for May 14, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at the University of Chicago Law School, 1111 East 60th Street.
