Matt Forte and Alshon Jeffery were listed as “limited participants” in Tuesday’s practice at Halas Hall, but both indicated after practice that they were nearing a return.

The Chicago Bears could be getting some good news on the injury front this week, as two of their key players could return against the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night.

That’s because running back Matt Forte and wide receiver Alshon Jeffery seem to be all systems go to be ready to play Thursday. Both players were listed as “limited participants” in Tuesday’s practice at Halas Hall, but both indicated after practice that they were nearing a return.

The Bears had quite a few names listed on the injury report, with Ka’Deem Carey, Antrel Rolle, and Eddie Royal all missing the workout. Martellus Bennett, Sherrod Martin, Pernell McPhee, and LaRoy Reynolds were all listed as “limited” on the report, and Jarvis Jenkins and Marquess Wilson were both full participants in practice.

The Bears will release a full injury report on Wednesday, and while there hasn’t been any official word, it would seem unlikely that Rolle and Carey will be able to play Thursday. Carey still has to go through the NFL’s concussion protocol, and with the short week leading up to the game in Green Bay, it would be surprising if he cleared and were able to play.

The news is more favorable for Forte and Jeffery, who both sat out Sunday’s game against the Broncos to get extra rest. Both will likely be listed as questionable Wednesday, but there’s plenty of optimism that both will be in lineup.
