Pregnant and standing on a Chicago Transit Authority bus? Soon there'll be a button for that.

The Chicago Transit Authority confirmed Monday that it plans to roll out so-called "pregnancy buttons" this year along with an awareness campaign to help expectant mothers get a seat on full buses and trains.

Details on what the pregnancy buttons will look like and when they will be implemented remained unclear, but the CTA said plans are in the works.

The decision behind the buttons, which were first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, did not come from rider complaints, the transit agency said.

"We're always looking to evolve and find ways to improve the public transit experience," the CTA said in a statement.
