Bye Week Awards: Defense

Headed into the bye week, the Bears have the second-best defense in the league. A look at the best of the Bears defense with the help of the incomparable Cher, a longtime Bears fan.*

"I Found Someone" goes to ... Julius Peppers: The man from North Carolina has taken away the heartache and the loneliness that all Bears fans were feeling when watching the defense last season. Peppers has contributed 16 tackles, two sacks, four broken up passes and an interception, but beyond that, he has drawn double and triple teams throughout the season. This has allowed his teammates to shine.

"I Got You, Babe" goes to ... Israel Idonije
: One of the people who has most benefited from Peppers' arrival is Israel Idonije. He earned the starting spot over the now-cut Mark Anderson, and has kept it by making five sacks and 22 tackles.

"If I Could Turn Back Time" goes to ... Brian Urlacher: After returning from wrist injury, Urlacher has played like a much younger man. He has 36 tackles, a forced fumble, two sacks and an interception. He's also back to leading the Bears on defense, and the team has always functioned better with him on the field than off of it.

"Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves" goes to ... D.J. Moore
: There is no bigger thief on the Bears defense than Moore, who has made three interceptions this season. Moore has shown himself to be a valuable member of the Bears D by being near the ball at all times, ready to pounce.

"Believe" goes to ... the entire defense: Bears D, fans believe in you. We know that the offense is horrible and that you're being called upon to do much more than you should have to do, but we know you can do it. Cher believes in you, too,* and if that's not motivation, what is?
