Chicago athletes react to Will Smith altercation originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Chicago athletes of past and present reacted to Sunday's Oscars altercation between Will Smith and Chris Rock.
Smith confronted Rock onstage during the show, slapping Rock on the face, after Rock made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith, Smith's wife.
Rock said, "Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can't wait to see it, all right?" Pinkett Smith has been open about struggling with alopecia, a condition that causes hair loss.
Smith apologized during his speech later that night, but did not mention Rock in his apology. The incident sparked plenty of reaction from across Hollywood on social media, but it appears even the sports world is weighing in.
Cubs starter Marcus Stroman and ex-Bears running back Tarik Cohen are among those who reacted to the altercation on Twitter.
