Cordarrelle Patterson Kickoff Return Touchdown for Bears Ties NFL Record

How Cordarrelle Patterson made NFL history against Vikings originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Cordarrelle Patterson made a bit of NFL history to start the second half of the Bears’ Monday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Patterson returned the kickoff coming out of halftime for a touchdown, the eighth time he’s returned a kickoff for a touchdown. That ties Josh Cribbs and Leon Washington for the most in NFL history.

Bears legendary return man only had five kickoff returns for touchdowns. He was far more prolific on punts, where he had 14 returns for touchdowns.

What made Monday’s return even sweeter for Patterson is the fact that it came against his former team.

What made the return even sweeter for me is the fact that Vikings fans had been blowing up my phone all night, reiterating how much they missed Patterson in Minnesota.

Good question

Patterson played for the Vikings from 2013-2016 and made two Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams during his time there. He’s also been named to one Pro Bowl and one All-Pro team with the Bears, but if he keeps playing like he has on Monday Night he could be in line for even more accolades.
