6 Bulls NBA Title Rings Owned by Security Guard John Capps Up for Auction

6 Bulls title rings to be auctioned, starting at $5,000 each originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Huggins & Scott Auctions announced Tuesday it is auctioning off six Bulls championship rings online through through Oct. 22.

The rings were all owned by longtime security guard and organizational pillar John Capps, who worked for the Bulls for more than five decades. A former Chicago police officer, Capps started with the team as a police escort for a parade to commemorate the franchise's founding up Michigan Avenue in 1966, and sat guard outside the team's locker room until 2018, the year of his passing at age 88.

Capps made a handful of background appearances in ESPN's "The Last Dance" docuseries — he was famous for sporting a Kangol hat and, according to a release, had familial relationship with Bulls icons from Bob Love, Jerry Sloan and Artis Gilmore to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen.

Auctioned individually, bidding for each ring will begin at $5,000. Hope you saved up.
